PELLISSIPPI STATE HOSTS 'HEALTHY PELLI' HEALTH FAIR - US Fed News Service, Including US State News

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 9 -- Pellissippi State Technical Community College issued the following news release:

Pellissippi State Technical Community College is sponsoring 'Healthy Pelli,' a health fair, at two of the school's campuses, and the community is invited to take advantage of the free services and information.

The event takes place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 9 on the Division Street Campus and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Magnolia Avenue Campus.

About 15 exhibitors, including Interfaith Health Clinic, TENNderCare, Knox County Health Department, The Rush Fitness Complex and Trio Cafe on Market Square, are scheduled to take part.

Participants can receive a free chair massage, tips about fitness, free blood pressure screenings and information on quitting smoking and achieving a healthy weight. The Glowing Body and The Rush will both give yoga demonstrations.

Mammograms will be performed at the Division Street Campus by Thompson Cancer Survival Center. Women interested in being screened must be over the age of 35 and should contact the Division Street Campus in advance to make a reservation. The Helen Ross McNabb Center, with Samaritan Ministry, will offer HIV/AIDS testing at Division Street as well.

The Student Activities Board's Ethan Olson and Otabek Razikov are working on the event at the Division Street Campus, and student Gabrielle LeFlore is coordinating the health fair at both campuses.
